Sweet, Sweet 16

Today is my son's 16th birthday!! At the risk of sounding old, I will say, it flew by!!! It feels like just yesterday he was sitting on his blankie in the living room floor riding it like a magic carpet and singing " A Whole New World".

I took him yesterday to get his learner's permit!! TO! DRIVE! A! CAR!! ON THE REAL ROAD!!! WITH OTHER DRIVERS!!! Am I freakin' out? OH YES, MA'AM!!! I asked him when we left the license place if he wanted to drive. He said, "No" I said, "Maybe tomorrow?" He said, " I don't know. We'll see." He is just excited about having a permit in his wallet.

I know that he will get over his nervousness. I remember those days well. I didn't even get my real license until I got married. Yeah you read that right! I was 18 and married before I got a regular license. I didn't really need them. I didn't have a car and Mike did so I went with him most places. My parents took me every where else I needed to go.

Trevor is an awesome teenager! 99.5 % of the time he is great to be around. I have enjoyed him these past few months so much! He has a good head on his shoulders and he loves his job. He loves his family and he has a heart for the Lord. He is so helpful that sometimes I feel like there are 3 adults in the house instead of 2.

Mike, Trevor, and I almost grew up together. We were young and we took him everywhere! We didn't even know what it was like not to have him around and most of the time we had a blast. We have taken him to races, museums, spent the night in line at Dale Earnhardt Days just to get an autograph. We have been on camping trips and been to Dollywood more times than we can count.

He was our only child for 9 years and we love him so much. He is a blessing to many people and he is our son. We are so glad God gave him to us and that His grace has helped us raise him.

Thank you, Lord for giving me the opportunity to be Trevor's Mom. You knew what you were doing when you gave him to us even though we didn't. He has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I thank You for him!

I remember the day he was born and calling your grandma a million times to find out if you had him yet. Oh it all seems like yesterday. Tell Trevor Happy Sweet Sixteen!

WOW! I wish I had been around when Trev was born! But, I sure am glad I've been able to watch him grow up to be a wonderful boy! He is a beautiful treasure. The Lord definitely knew what He was doing when He created Trevor!
