The other day while riding in the van I decided that it would be a good time to go over the girls' memory verse for the week.
So, I asked Shelby to say it and she did.
Then I asked Abby to say it and she said, "What she said."
I cracked up!!! It was so funny.
Then I made her say it. And she did.

PRAY!!!
*Update~Harper is doing a lot better. They haven't had to do the bypass yet. Thank you, Lord!
I have been following Kelly's blog since she found out she was pregnant after a bout with infertility.
She gave birth to Little Harper today and the baby is in VERY critical condition.
PLEASE, PLEASE pray for Kelly, Scott, and precious baby Harper.
I don't know what else to say.
Jesus, help her.

PRAISE HIM, PEOPLE!!!
I don't know about you but when Trevor came in the living room and said a plane had crashed in New York and turned on the TV, I was scared.
I have a cousin that lives in Manhattan so my first thought was of her.
When I saw that plane in the water and the news guy said there was no loss of life all I could do was lift my hands and praise Jesus. I know the pilot did a great job but I know that God was in control of that plane.
I just have to give Him the glory.
Then, this morning, I went to a blog I read and saw this. I just lost it sitting here at my desk. I am telling you I had a worship fest right here in my living room.
Praise the Lord!!!
Y'all have a great day!!

OH THE DREARY LIFE OF A BOOTBLACK
If you have read this blog AT ALL you know that we have a teenage son.
A teenage son that got his drivers license in October.(He had been driving for a year with his learners)
A teenage son that got a ticket in December while driving home from work.
He disclosed this info on myspace so I feel okay to share this with ya'll~and truth be known most of you probably know by now anyway.
My sweet hubby and I discussed what punishment he would receive. Of course, without question, he would pay for the ticket out of his pocket. He will go to traffic school on Monday.
We also felt he should have some kind of consequence from us.
This is what we came up with:
Don't you love it when your penance is paid and you are free.
Along this thought, we have tried to keep away from being "fair" parents.
Trevor will tell you that my favorite come back for the phrase "That's not fair" is "Do you think it was fair that Jesus had to die on the cross for YOUR sins?"
That usually shuts the offended child down right away.
We don't think that if one child gets ______ (insert toy, food, present, money, praise for something specific, etc.) that the other kids are entitled to get the same.
Entitled is pretty much a dirty word in our family.
I can't stand it.
So, sometimes just for fun one child gets a cookie and the others don't. Or, one gets to go to a party or an outing and the others don't.
Why? Because life doesn't work that way. Just because So&So down the street gets _____(again, insert new bike, scooter, new car, cruise, a big atta boy, etc.) doesn't mean you get one too.
I've heard that in some families when a child has a birthday all the kids in that family HAVE to get a gift.
WHAT!!!! I don't think so! Why? Because someone might get their little feelings hurt that the birthday child got a gift and they didn't.
Give me a break. Can we say "I am trying to raise brats"?
Okay, I'm done now. I think I'll go get a cookie and dare my kids to ask for one.

This is what we came up with:
- he was not allowed to work more over Christmas break.(He only works 2 days a week, Fri and Sat but they are almost 12 hour days.)
- he was not allowed to drive for recreation for one month.

AND.....HUH???
Mike went to see a lawyer yesterday and~well~we get what we get and we won't pitch a fit.
In other words, the lawyer is not on the payroll and whatever the insurance company has offered(which is minuscule compared to Mike's injuries) is what we get. That's it. Nothing more.
It is what it is.
A pleasant surprise today: Trev and I went to register him for his composition class at the college. We had applied for a grant in the fall but we never received any info about it.
So we just assumed he didn't get it. When they printed out his bill today it had a negative balance from last semester. WOO~HOO!! Three hundred smackers!! Now we only owe a G. Good for us:~)
Life is good and God is faithful.
Peeps~peace out.

4 MONTHS
That's how long it is until Trevor graduates high school.
Hello??? Are you hearing me???
FOUR MONTHS!!!!
I am in utter shock.
He and I were talking on my bed last night~you know, the kind of talk where you talk about everything and it's so smooth and easy.
We talked about what he plans to do in the fall~school and work.
We talked about how his relationships with his dad and I and the girls will change. Not in a bad way~it will just be different.
We talked about how is turning into a man and making hard decisions.
We talked about his relationship with the Lord and what kind of person he wants to be in Christ.
We talked about things I won't post here because they are personal and are things just between him, me, and his Dad.
One other thing that we talked about was how his Dad has always put us first~above work, above play, above others (including extended family). We have always known we were first. Even when it was just the three of us for those nine years before Shelby came along.
I told Trevor that we have made so many mistakes with him. He was our first and we were young. He knows we aren't perfect and never will be. He knows that once Mike is done with school we may be called to move some where to minister that isn't in Tennessee or Virginia:~)
He is a bird getting ready to fly from the nest. He is a young man with a kind heart. He is our son and we love him so much.

NO TROUBLE HERE
We have just been chillin' out here at home today.
Mike took a quick trip to recycle our tree and some stuff to the city dump.
I ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things for lunch tomorrow. We are having friends over from church and I am making Mexican.
See I told you~~~ boring. I love it.
Have a chillin' weekend, yo. (I am channeling my inner gangsta:~)

I'M GONNA BE ORIGINAL HERE.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a full, fun New Year's Eve.
The girls and I started off downtown for a rally to support Israel. It was a good history lesson for the girls and we had some good discussions on the way there and back.

Mason, Abby, and Shelby
Then we headed to Marvin and Sonia's for a party. We laughed so hard we were wheezing. I introduced them to The Office. We watched the first two episodes. I think they are hooked now.
Sonia and I
(Trevor said that I look weird in this picture. I told him,"Baby, it is 2:30 in the morning and we have been going non stop since 7am yesterday morning. I am entitled to look a little weird!! ")
Trevor ready to watch more Poker. (Teenagers and their mopey pictures:~)
Marvin pumped up on the hard stuff, Dr. Pepper and Oreos.
We got home around 9 am this morning and took down our tree and packed all the decorations away. Well, except for the snowmen. I think they will be hanging around til the end of January. Mike had to work so he missed out on all the fun. This year he will be choosing the holidays he has to work a little better. Umm, he's thinking Presidents Day is looking good.
Then we went and saw The Tale of Despereaux. We had all read the book for school and were somewhat disappointed in the movie. I think if we had not read the book the movie would have been better. I recommend you read the book even if you have seen the movie. The book is SO good and quite a bit different than the movie.
