MY TREVOR

My baby~my firstborn~my little boy is a senior this year!!

I am in shock!! I am not ready!! I want to stop time!! Those are things my heart is saying. I have watched this sweet child grow into a loving, dependable, generous young man. I am not just saying these things because he is mine. I am saying them because it is true.

I have seen him take large amounts of money from his wallet and buy things for people without even flinching. I have seen him time and again lifting heavy furniture for family and friends without a word of complaint.

When I came home from the hospital the only night I could not stay with Mike he did not leave my side for the 3 hours before I went to bed because he knew I was terribly upset about leaving his dad. He sat with me while I cried, checked e-mail, painted my fingernails, and he talked and talked so that I would have something else to focus on.

I could go into detail about how he was given to Mike and I~how young we were~all the drama that goes with being teenage parents~ I won't. Because in the end, God's grace is sufficient. I pray that he becomes the man God has created him to be.

I pray that all the holes I have left from imperfect mothering will be filled by God's grace and mercy. I pray that he will always come up to me, put his arm around me like the picture, and know I love him so very much. Because he's my baby.

I love the hymn Great is Thy Faithfulness and I think it should be a mother's anthem.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain
