SENSATIONAL SATURDAY

Our weather was beautiful today! It was a perfect day for doing things outside.

We cleaned some in the garage.

Mike stained a desk we've had forever. It looks like he brought it back to life. I love it!

He painted an old plastic urn that I found at the church Wednesday night. See, our Sunday School class had a table in it with junk on it AND a hideous plastic tablecloth.

When I went to Goodwill a few weeks ago I found a "tablecloth" that would look perfect on that table. The reason tablecloth is in quotes is it's original life was a shower curtain.

So what!! It was the perfect color to accent our chocolate walls. Well, actually they are beige on top and half way down they are chocolate with a border around it.

Anyhoo, then I found some other things at Goodwill to spruce up the table to make it look better.

Can everyone say Goodwill is our friend?

The urn was just UGLY so Mike painted it black for me and I bought some eucalyptus and wooden thingys at Michaels to go in it. It turned out perfect!!

I used my 40% off coupon.(Love those things!) So, basically between Goodwill and coupons we spiffed up our SS room for around $10.

Now I don't have to stare at that tablecloth on Sunday mornings,willing it to disappear. Especially when we have visitors.

I always think~they probably think we LIKE that hideous thing!!

I'll try to take pictures tomorrow so you can see how pretty it is. Unless we have visitors~~I don't want them to think I'm weird or something~not on their first Sunday anyway:~)

Too bad I don't have before pictures so you can see for yourself the ugliness I've had to endure.

WINTER WEATHER INTERLUDE

We have snow here all day. It has been pretty and the kids played in it this morning.

We haven't had any accumulation but it has still been nice to look out the window and watch it come down.

Mike still had to go to school:~( and Trevor went to work. The girls and I have been warm and cozy in the house all day. We have read books, done school work, and just puttered around the house.

Mike found this game at a thrift store this weekend and we paid $3.99 for it. We have gotten our money's worth. We have played this game 3 times since Saturday. The only thing missing in this game was the directions. Mike just got online and looked them up, printed them off, and we were good to go.

This game is worth $20 online but the family time is priceless. We have laughed our heads off and we realized that we have some Disney movies to put on our Netflix queue.

I THINK I HAVE PASSED IT ON

The kids and I went to Goodwill today because we had an hour or so to kill before picking Mike up from school.

I was disappointed in the book selection and I didn't find anything worth buying~~~but Trevor did. He bought another Samsonite suitcase and a framed U2 poster that came from Deck the Walls in the mall.

The suitcase was for his friend Sarah because she loved the one he has.

I think the frame is worth more than the poster but it was half priced and something he wanted.

I like looking for good deals and I know that when I can't find one I should just walk away. That is exactly what I did today:~)

A note for myself~My friend Ginger conquered her fear this weekend~an answer to prayer!!!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE WEEKEND

On Saturday, after the soccer evals, we went to Goodwill looking for some "frugal finds".

I found a cute Talbot black skirt for $3.99 and a sweet Wilton heart pan for .99. (I will be using it on Thursday for my Valentine)

Mike found two Big Bertha Callaway drivers for $2.99 a piece!! He can't wait to take them to the golf driving range.

Trevor found a set of "vintage" Samsonite luggage for $12 and a brand new Trivial Pursuit game for $3.99.

Yesterday, at church, we heard a great message from a visiting pastor. Pastor Mike is in Spain visiting our missionaries there.

Mike and I started our new positions as greeters today.

PAMPERED CHEF AND OTHER THINGS

Tomorrow night is my Pampered Chef party and I would like to say my house is sparkling clean but it isn't!!! And~~ here I sit blogging. Go figure.

I am glad that I have one more day to get this place into shape.

Shelby got the new American Girls catalog and she just told me there is nothing that she is interested in ~ in it. Yeah, right!! For 30 minutes she kept saying,"Oh Momma, look at Julie's bed. Oh, Momma look at so and so's outfit."

I found a wool sweater at Goodwill yesterday for myself~~$3!!! It is beautiful and I love it.
